Physiological Modeling

The body is divided to a series of organs or tissue spaces.

The uptake of the drug by each organ is determined by the blood flow to the organ, organ size, and the drug partition coefficient between the blood and the tissues.

The elimination of the drug by specific organs is also added to the model.

Physiological modeling allows:

- Determination of the time course for the drug in each tissue.

- Extrapolation to different species.

- Prediction of the changes in drug pharmacokinetics due to physiological, and pathological changes.
