Pharmacokinetic Simulations

Pharmacokinetic simulations involve graphical presentation of the drug profile (concentration) in the body given specific values for the pharmacokinetic parameters.

For example:

The plasma conc-time profile after a single oral dose administration can be described by the following equation:

Cp =

FDka

Vd(ka - k )
(e- kt -e- kat)

The plasma conc-time profile can be simulated by choosing values for each of the parameters and then calculating the plasma conc at different time points.

For example:

D =1000mg ka = 0.5hr-1
F = 1 k = 0.15hr-1
Vd = 50L
This is the plasma conc-time
profile given the specified
parameter values
