Total Body Clearance

The total body clearance is a measure of the efficiency of all eliminating organs in metabolizing/excreting the drug.

The total body clearance (CLT) can be defined as the volume of plasma or blood completely cleared from the drug per unit time.

The total body clearance and the volume of distribution of the drug (the two independent pharmacokinetic parameters), determine the drug elimination rate constant and half life (The dependent pharmacokinetic parameters).
